Speaker adaptor question
I've got a friend who has these Bose speakers which have analog outputs.
Any suggestions on an adaptor she can buy to hook these into her television? I looked on monoprice but was not sure what would be best to use. Halp!

What do you mean by "analog outputs"? Do you mean just speaker wire? If so, she'll want something like this.
If it's a mini plug (the kind that would go into a headphone/computer audio out jack), then she needs one of these

Something to plug them into her new TV. She does not have analog inputs on the new behemoth tv, apparently.

Actually, you want the sound OUTPUT from the TV to go to the INPUT of the speakers. The Bose speakers have a standard RCA stereo input. She MAY have sound output from her TV, though she may not. If you can provide the model of the TV, I can confirm cable needs. Also, if she is using a cable box or some other device as the tuner (what changes the channels), she should just run the sound from there - it most likely has analog audio output which she can use even if she is using a digital connection (such as HDMI) for the video.
Next we need to know exactly what kind of output there is from the TV. If there are RCA outputs (most likely), then the cable you need is a standard RCA male to RCA male pair (they almost always come as a pair). These ones from Monoprice would work (also available in 6 ft. - I linked to the 12 foot ones), though you can also get them from Radio Shack. However, the speakers shown aren't going to provide that much of a performance improvement over what is built into the TV. ETA: we are working with a "line level" (e.g. not amplified) signal - you don't need speaker wire in this case.

Hi Kevy
Well, she bought this model given the problems she's had, I think she bought a lemon. Among other things she said she has to turn the volume on the tube up to 40-50 to get sound.

I'm not sure what that number means, but she is having to turn it up more than 75% of the max. volume, she may have a problem. Maybe check the Sound Settings (the manual is available here). Note that there is also a DIGITAL audio output, but that doesn't apply here.
Glad I checked: her TV has a mini-jack (1/8") for audio output. She would need this cable from Monoprice (also available at Radio Shack).

I bet the audio out isn't amplified. It's probably designed to go into an audio amplifier.

It isn't.It is: the speakers she has are self-amplified
