My Disneyland Spending Boycott

Blah. As much fun as I had during Disneyland Birthday weekend (and OMG did I ever had F.U.N.), the attitude Disney had about this major event and the way they carried it off with a resounding thud left a very bad taste in my heart.

The recent accident No. 38, this time at DCA, did nothing to improve my poor regard for Disneyland and for Cast Member Matt's regime.

I still intend to visit the resort quite often, but I feel I must do something as a customer to express my displeasure, and I will not be satisfied with writing a pointless letter. My solution may be equally pointless, but it's the best I can do as a paying guest.

And that is to become a non-paying guest. I Am Declaring A Personal Disneyland Spending Boycott, effective immediately. I will do my utmost to refrain from spending a dime at the resort. No food, no drinks, no drinks, no souvenirs.

You will see me sporting a flask more often, as I will be refusing to buy cocktails at the resort. You will find me urging more often to dine at Mimi's on Harbor, as I will not be patronizing any resort restaurants. I will try not to make a pest of myself, and - if needs be - I will spend a few dollars here and there in order to survive .... but I feel I must express my displeasure with my money-spending habits, and deprive the resort of my hard-earned cash which I feel they most definitely do not deserve.

My personal boycott will run from now till Thanksgiving, when all will be forgiven. I do not intend to hold any person or entity in ill regard during the holidays. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation when you find me being a skinflint and a cheapskate at the Park. My apologies in advance for any inconvenience and/or obnoxiousness that I may cause.

Disneyland has fallen down on the job, and it must be made to Suffer! Haha, I will deprive their coffers of $75 - $100 per week and bring the operation to its knees!

Ok, maybe not. But I feel I must do something, and this is the only legal idea I could come up with.

- Sincerely and Regrettably,

-- Steve

I'm not sure we're going to be so....driven about not spending at Disney, but, rather let economics do the driving. What that means is that, we're done spending money on much for a while.

With all due respect to the DL Resort, much of the fun we had during the B-Day was because of Swanky Peoples, like iSm, Zapp, €uro and NA. I was disappointed with DL itself for many reasons, most of which iSM outlined in his post. Tori brought up another point, which in the hustle and bustle of activities I hadn't noticed, but is very important to the little ones. She purchased two autograph books, and not one time was there an opportunity to meet characters. The last time we were there, they were all over the place, but we saw practically nil the three full days we were there. If I were a newcomer, I'd have been very disappointed. The park looks nice, but cheaping out on festivities and character op's kind of cancels out the good looks vibe.

I remember hearing that they were going to have almost EVERY character out on that weekend. I was looking forward to seeing Piggys and Wolfy. There was a sincere lack of character presence - except I did see ALL 7 of the dwarves.

I think the characters came out just for the presentation with Arnold - or was it the presentation on the 5th? Even though I was there both days, I never saw the media presentations.

Well, my personal spending hasn't been what your guys was at for years.

However, I really couldn't justify me having a Premium pass this year. I was planning on upgrading sometime next month, but I think I'll spend my extra $130 on something local, or maybe even a pass at another park. As long as I can wait it though August, then I can go many days I want.

I'm really thinking twice about this whole "I love CM Matt" thing now.

I'm still not too hep to get back on property, just because I still feel blown out. There are so many other things to do too.

We'll have to have more house parties.

Yeah, while I did go back to the park and spent some cash on dinner - I have no real urge to spend a day there anytime soon. Lately, I've been more interested in checking out what else the neighborhood has to offer.

I'm not a big advocate of boycots, but I think my level of spending is naturally dropping just the same.

While I didn't hear anything specifically, this is something I've come to expect from previous BIG birthdays. It's a relatively cheap and very effective way to celebrate - - dust off all the old costumes and have EVERY freaking character out there to interact with guests.

I have loved on past birthdays seeing the characters that haven't been out in the Park in decades, costumes obviously from the 70's and even the 60's! OMG, is that ever fun.

But, um, no.

Ugh, if I had an hour, I could count the ways that Disneyland let us down.
