YouTube and "Mom Jeans"

For those of you familiar with the SNL "commercial" for mom jeans, I need to locate it on the web. I checked YouTube but I wasn't able to utilitize their search.

Can anyone help me? Does anyone have this skit? My mom needs to see it.

Since a higher waistline is coming back into style again, I suspect the Mom Jeans commercial won't have as much "umph" in the near future.

They're have to make a new one for the "Muffin Top" to be timely.

Waistlines may be getting higher, but hopefully over the belly button won't be in style. Who would want to do that to their body? Blech.

What's a muffin top?

That 'commercial' was from the mid-90s, well before jeans waist lines dropped south of the equator. Even then, when waist lines were, well, at the waist, mom jeans with their waists above the belly button, zippers the length of a forearm, and oh-so-flattering balloon pleating stood out like a sore thumb.

I like the high waist - not necessarily in jeans bit in dressier pants. It is that 1940's style that I love. It is actually more comfotable than low waist pants that have been known to cause nerve damage because of locationof the waistline. Ahhh, the things we do for fashion.

A muffin top refers to the layer of blubber that hangs over too-low or too tight jeans. There's even a Wiki entry!

For the last few years, NBC has been rerunning old SNLs early Sunday morning, with all of the sketches, commercials, musical guests etc intact.

A month or so ago I saw a fake commercial from the 70s for the "Triple Track Razor" ("because you'll believe anything"). How times have changed.

The Gay Beer ad is still one of my favorites. Chris Farley facial expressions are beautiful.

While I'm happy that I'll be able to find a pair of jeans that won't require a super-long shirt or exposing my undies I really hope to never see this again... unless I venture into my moms closet.

Before waist lines dropped I lived in mens jeans. I felt like I was suffocating in those high waisted jeans.

I bought my mom a pair of boot cut stretch jeans that are age appropriate (no super low waist) and totally stylish at Kohls. She loves them and loves how the lower waist and boot cut cuffs make her look 30lbs lighter than her "mom jeans".

Tapered ankles and pleated waists don't look good on anyone.
