Drive
long drive into an ink dark night
double beams reveal ten dozen feet black collapsing around us quick glance skyward reveals diamond sky magnificent radio towers blink on an unnamed hilltop light show preprogrammed for my enjoyment pour the sub-pop straight into my inner cochlea music is a lone friend on a 3am road highway's empty save for the truckers greasy salty nomad wanderers in a big rig delivering goods alone ice wind eddies around my numb cheeks conscious slipping blink blink stay awake solitudinous desert expands peripherally sunlight slinks over earth's edge brandishing what night kept sheathed long buried thoughts unearth as wheels spin a journey that's fuel for the soul sleep is chasing close behind just keep driving
