Dell 700m Internal SD Card Reader Issue

I have a Dell 700m notebook. About 3 weeks ago the internal sd card reader stopped working. I did some research and there is a known issue with reading 2 gig cards. I only have a 1 gig card. And it worked about a month ago.

I went to re-install the driver via the hardware manager, but the driver cannot be found. I went to the device manager to update the driver, but the driver cannot be found. I went to troubleshoot and it says that the driver is not there.

I have not installed any new software or hardware prior to this issue. I created a new profile, the card reader doesn't work there either. The device is visible under the hardware manager and the device manager; however there is the yellow circle with the ! in it.

I can't find the driver on the Dell site. I'm at a loss.

Help?

Typically you go to http://support.dell.com and enter the service tag printed on the back of your notebook. That should lead you to a list of downloads specific to your PC.

Does the Dell Web site offer a detailed spec sheet for your laptop model? If it mentions the maufacturer of the card reader you can probably find a driver at their Web site.

This page seems to be the driver for the Smart Card reader for Inspiron 700m laptops. Is this not it?

Thank you Alex. That looks like it.

Moonie - I went to the Dell site after I discovered the driver wasn't there (I must have left that out) and didn't see it listed.

Hopefully this fixes it.
