Museum visits on 12/28 - Wanna join me?

Okay, so I am on vacation and Susan is working tomorrow. I am going to visit two museums that she is not too interested in:

The California Science Center (fka the Museum of Sciene and Industry) and the Peterson Automotive Museum.

Too bad I didn't see this yesterday. I've had a hankering to check out the Peterson Automotive.

The California Science Center is a bore. What a shame. The ramshackle Museum of Science and Industry, which the shiny new Science Center replaced, was often far more interesting.

In any event, though I have the day off tomorrow, it's already all booked up. Hmmm, in fact, I'm doing so many good deeds tomorrow, I expect a karmic bonus real soon.

I like Peterson Automotive. I used to work a couple of blocks down, so I checked it out regularly for those couple of years. I have been hankering to go there, myself. Perhaps I shall. California Science Center was great with the Body Worlds, though I didn't check out the rest. Just didn't seem to be too fascinating to me.

I've been meaning to go the Getty since I first arrived on these shores -- though it never seems to materialise.

Perhaps one day soon ... I hear they have a tram ride that is quite spectacular.

Yet with my busy schedule ... Oh well, I suppose a girl can always dream.

Only made it to the Peterson. Got a late jump on the day and ISM's rave review above didn't inspire me to try to hit both.

I enjoyed the Peterson. Besides the permanent installations (including a GEORGEOUS custom-built Mercedes touring car from the 50's), there is a "Rock and Roll" exhibit (two cars that Elvis owned, cars owned or once owned or driven in a video, etc - mostly boring crap that belonged in a road-side tourist trap). There were a few notable exceptions (Billy Gibbons [ZZ Top] Mercury was very nice!), but otherwise a waste of space.

There is also a Chip Foose (Overhaulin') installation. I love his work; clean lines, attention to detail, not overdone.

I picked up some new ear buds on the way there, courtesy (in part) of a gift card for Christmas. Got to listen to my choice of music for the experience (Ursula 1000, electronica, trance).

A nice way to spend four hours today!
