Resolutions, Hopes and Dreams
Did you fulfill your possibilities in 2006? We visited Alaska and bought our condo - yay.
What are you going to do this year? I resolve to travel to New York/Chicago/Boston, or at least two of those. I'm supposed to be looking into more school right now. I need to get motivated. Both GD and I are setting up a budgeting spreadsheet and I resolve to stick to bringing home receipts and entering them. I love me some data. I resolve to send bday gifts to Alaska on time. I know there's more...

Ugh - looking back, I see work continued to plague me - teasing me into expectations and leaving me frustrated. If I have any workplace resolutions, it's to bump it lower inpriorities.
Travelwise, I made it to the places I mentioned and we did get to Boston, San Francisco, a Beat Retreat in the desert - but this year this will be bumped up in priority. We Go to London before the Spring and I hope we can make it to some other interesting places later in the year.

HI!
|
I sure had big aspirations last year!
As usual, I'm project and event oriented. Heck, it's what I both excell at and enjoy. Travel remains high on my list. We've got the time and the perfect job flexability to do it, why not do one of our very favorite activities more often? Do less running about, focus on key clients and marketing activities, get rid of problem clients and attract better ones. House Projects. There are a TON of them andd I WILL get some of these things done in the next year even if it kills me. Hey, we got to the garage, we can continue onward! |

Pay bills. I will pay off my car this year and then that money will go towards other debt. In fact everything that can will go towards paying off debt. Except for one trip to Cali to see a special Bear I am not going anywhere- so....more money to pay off debt.
I am also going to go to the gym every day I can - we have one here at work for free- so I will use it at lunch. I need to get in better shape- not for vanity, but for health (and a little vanity) I can't wait to get to the new year...... |

Well, 2006 was the worst year I've had. So for 2007 it can go one of two ways, alot better or alot worse. I will plan for the worst and hope for the best.

I won't be sad to see the last of 2006 for sure....
2007 goals.... Hugging one of my favorite bears.... Spending more time with loved ones and less stressing over people who don't matter in my 'real' life. Getting more organized around my house so I can play with my craft stuff on a more regular basis.

Getting to the old country (aka Chicago, from whence my mom, my dad, CP's Dad, my sister's husband, and half of the Jewish population of the west valley hail) is tops on the to-do list. Extending that into a return visit to New York for the first time in 15 years would be lovely.
Definitely need to resolve to stay on top of finances. I don't suspect we're hemorrhaging money quite yet, even with the mortgage, but the mortgage means that for the first time it's a close enough line that I can't just eye-ball it and expect to be okay. But Excel should make that easy. All hail pivot-tables. Maybe this year we'll actually remember to use the camera a bit more often. Too many photos not taken. Keep better contact with people. I think I say that one every year. Ugh. Get more active. Weekly soccer is helping, but once a week ain't enough. I have no illusion that I'll turn anything into a permanent habit, but I'd like to get some form of activity in my routine at least for a good portion of the year. Don't know if that'll happen before the weather turns warmer and the pool outside our front door becomes more inviting.

The one big thing I hoped would happen in 2006 didn't. But it is completely out of my control so now I'll just hope it happens in 2007.
The one big thing in my control that was on the list for 2006 did happen (getting a real job again) though I didn't really want it to. I don't ever make resolutions but I developed a task I'd really like to do in 2007. Otherwise I'm mostly content with life and will take it as it comes at me. |

Be careful what you wish for. 2006 was definitely a year of personal growth and revelation. And I definitely feel better, stronger, smarter and happier. The price for all that was higher than I would have ever guessed it to be, namely the love and acceptance of half my family (of which my Dad, Grampa, and two sisters are now not associating with me). Regardless, the changes I made were for the better and there was definitely adventure and excitement. Trade in the serenity for a much much thicker skin with a good dose of jaded cynicism, and my predictions were fairly accurate. ![]() There was tons of love, but not enough travel. We only made it to DL once and didn't go anywhere else. I'm not sure if that will increase in 2007, but it definitely will over the next several years (ducks in a row, and all that). Living with drive and purpose and hope is probably going to be my motto for the rest of my life. I think I did a decent job of it this year, but there's always room for improvement in the year to come. What do I hope for in 2007? Calm. I would like to see the eye of the hurricane of life this year. A year of peace would be lovely. I would like to acquire some financial management skills, so that I'm not always screwing up our budget, build a savings account that actually has money in it all the time, see the floor of my laundry room on a regular basis, and be more organized in general. This year is also my grand return to college, so I hope that I can keep up with that and still have time for my family. 2007 will bring us to DL at least once, but a Christmas trip would also be lovely. I'd like to see some of my Swanker friends that I haven't seen in so long and perhaps meet some that I have yet to meet. I hope to get better at the things I want to get better at, and maybe even learn a few new things. I've gotten a good start to this weight loss thing this past month, and I'd really like to hit my goal weight within the next six months. I feel better when I exercise regularly, so hopefull that will become at least a partial habit. Last year I had grand hopes and got grand results. This year I have mediocre hopes. I don't really mind if the results are mediocre as long as I live this year to the fullest extent possible. (Maybe I'll be so successful at that that in December of 2007 you'll all be wondering where I've gone. If that happens, don't worry, I've finally figured out how to get off the computer and live more minutes of my life. ![]()

2006 was actually a really good year for me, which I even find surprising. LOL! Usually, every single year gets ruined for me in some form or another, but '06 was practically perfect in every way.
(Now watch as something bad happens on New Years Eve '06 ![]() As for 2007, I have, but one dream. MUST. GET. OUT. ON. MY. OWN. NOW!!!
