Invoice Program Suggestions?
I'm hoping someone might point me to some invoice software that will do the following:
Product seperate totals for different products. For example, we sell cabinetry and electronics. At the end of month, I need to run a report that will show me either the total cabinet sales and the total electronics sales, or a total of these things by customer. We can't do this by product number - as we don't use them in custom cabinetry. Any suggestions?

I don't have any recommendations myself, but I've just floated the question to my brother-in-law who programs business inventory and accounting solutions for a living. I'll let you know.

I know this is a little old school, but I tend to use FileMaker for just about every database-type need I have. There are plenty of cool invoice templates for FM.

As much as I like Filemaker, it's capabilities are a bit overkill for what you are looking for. Might I suggest the Quickbooks? It is a simple to use and a quite robust program. And if you use Quicken, it will be an easy learning curve.
There are several flavors available, but basically, it would be between the "Simple Start" or "Pro" versions. And if you can get your hands on the Student Price for the Pro, then you can get it for the same price as Simple Start.

I'd considered Quickbooks simply because the office already uses it. I need something a bit more cost effective as I have to have 15 more people using it remotely - and probably more as time goes by. The current invoice program was $35 and although it's pretty primitive, it does the job just fine - except for this one particular thing - which has just come up as we expand what products we carry.

Well darn. We may just have to decide which is more imporant - information or money. Imagine that.
