What the Dickens?

Dickens World! Opening today!

I really don't have great expectations of getting there any time soon or if I would pay a Nicholas Nickelby to get in if I did. The AA rats could be worth the price of ad-mission though.

Here is a link to the story I heard accidentally on Marketplace last night on my way to Taco Bell for some swanky dinner foods. The previous night: Steakhouse 55. O, how the mighty have fallen... I like how this little article mentions the Disneyfication of classic lit in order to sell tickets. (And maybe even books!)

At any rate, maybe someone can get back to Merrie Olde and bring back some nifty pix!

Someone might want to remind them to include an actual photo of the park. That is not to say I did not enjoy the time lapse film of a tree in a parking lot with some stuff happening behind it.

It got pretty tense there when it rained and the camera lens got wet.

The entire span, according to the text, is between 5 and 6 months (Aug '05 - Jan '06)

I read that the Dickens park is taking a page from the Renaissance Faire by sticking with traditional food of the Dickens age, such as fried bread with drippings, rotted meat pies & Hardtack bisquits. Sounds yummers! Just tell me where to line up for the gruel (and do not skimp on the saw-dust!)

Oh, I thought it said two years. That explains it, I'm sure they don't take the boat out much in the winter.
