The Ultimate Geek Weekend
Ok, we all know that Disneyland's birthday is July 17th. But it appears that is not the only geekiness going on that weekend.
The new Harry Potter book comes out then. The ComiCon is that weekend, in San Diego. And Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes out then, too! Too bad the Revenge of the Sith didn't come out that weekend as well. My deal is that I'm kind of bummed that I probably won't see "Charlie" that weekend. I'm a Children's Literature Geek, as well as a Burton/Elfman Geek (and who doesn't love Depp, the perfect third element?). Perhaps the plans will end up including a visit to the DTD AMC on Monday? Perhaps, but I'm willing to wait if need be. So, is your geekiness conflicting? I know there are some that are juggling things here.

Well, some of us don't have to worry about the Disneyland distraction and can spend the whole weekend curled up with Potter and Burton/Elfman/Depp.
Not that I'm bitter. Much.

I'll get to the New HP eventually - wasn't that excited by the last installment, so I have no burning need to find out what happens next. As for Charlie, that could be fun, but Disney will be my focus this weekend, the rest can wait.

HI!
|
The only thing I will do is possibly escape from the heat and crowds in a theater. Harry....eh.....no biggie. One of us will read it first anyways with the other one waiting. I don't think either of us mind.
But, Disneyland gets my full attention that weekend. |

I'm geeking out bigtime. Friday is Wicked, followed by a run to a bookstore for the midnight HP line party, plus a visit to a party somewhere in all that, Saturday, well, I'll have HP in hand, then DL in the evening because I wanna be there at midnight when it's technically July 17th, then home for a quick catnap, into my 50's dress, to the resort at ugly-thirty in the morning to stand in line for the birthday.
I'm going to be SUCH a WRECK on Monday morning!

Come join anyway! You can appreciate kids getting excited about reading!
I still don't know where I'm going to be getting my book... waiting for d-phile to find out if Compass is having a midnight line party and takes ressies or not (I am SO NOT lining up at midnight w/out being guaranteed my book! Nor am I going to pay $40 if I can get it at Borders for $25).

I'm undecided about the HP release. For book 5 we went to Borders for the release party and won the costume contest with Indi dressed as Hedwig (he was only between 7 and 10 mos old, I don't remember when the book came out). It was so freaking adorable. After the costume contest (which had a really lame prize, btw) we went to Wal-Mart and picked up the book without standing in line. I don't think I have the stamina to make more costumes this year, although I thought of making Indi Hedwig again and making Jade the minute owl (I forget that owl's name). I'll probably just pick it up the next day.
I SO want to see Charlie, but I'll have to see if I can get Michael to run interference with Indi. I'll most likely have to wait until it's on DVD like every other movie. And, DL, well I'm too far away. Sigh...I guess I'll get a lot of HP read, though.

Well, being a force which drives Comic-con, I'll be there, wishing I was with you folks at D-land.
I want to be there, i wish I could be there, but I will be working my butt off. I will see Charlie later... after con. ![]()

I am torn between HP and DL. Okay, not really. I luv HP, but I have an early flight, so unless they are selling it at the airport, I doubt I'll be getting it until after the Festivus. I can wait. Kind of. Well, I may stop by an all night bookstore or such on my way to the airport....... ![]() |
