Talking The Girl Can't Help It (1956)

Right off the bat I'll admit it is not the world's greatest movie (not by a long shot). However the music is awesome (Little Richard, Fats Domino, Eddie Cochran, etc)! Oh and for those of us who are single on this Valentine's Day we can drool over Jayne Mansfield! I saw this movie for the first time at age 16 and yeah...I was in a state of euphoria when I saw her! Ohhh Baby!!!

Someone has posted the movie on Youtube and it is in 11 segments. For those of you just interested in the Jayne Mansfield scene where she is walking down the street and everyone is going ga-ga over her then click the 2nd link and the scene is at the 7:15 mark. It's classic!

OMG, one of my favorite movies EVER!

It finally came out on DVD last year .... as part of a 3-film Mansfield set. I don't ever intend to watch the other 2, but I didn't hestite a second to buy the set just to have The Girl Can't Help It. It's fantasticly fun, musically great, hysterically silly. O.M.G.

I'm partial to Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? myself.

Never seen TGCHI, I guess I will have to add to the Netflix queue. I'm all for unrestrained silliness and good music, too.

Absolutely groundbreaking musically ... likely the first movie (certainly one of the) to capture so many classic 50's rock acts. Proto-use of rock music in film.

Oh, and Julie London is featured in the plot ... and sings an amazingly enjoyable rendition of Cry Me a River.

I am quite pleased to hear that you like this swanky movie like I do.

And while it wasn't the first "Rock N' Roll" movie I think it is possibly the best. It also had the biggest budget since it was in color. None of the other Rock films of the day were in color. The Alan Freed movies are pretty cool as well.

I didn't know this movie appeared on DVD yet. I think I just found something to add to my birthday list Thanks for the tip!
