"Escape" condensed

Slate has done an article where they cherry-picked pieces out of Carolyn Jessop's book, Escape, that sort of summarize her existence living in the polygamist community that just got raided in Texas (she escaped before her "husband" moved to the Texas compound).

I've read the book and highly recommend it for some juicy, OMFG-what's-wrong-with-these-people kind of reading. It's especially juicy since she's talking about people and events only a few years ago and those same people are in the news now.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't searched for anything on this and I'm glad for the short version.

I'd rather not read the book simply because my faith in humanity is already on the low side.
