Can I Wear Your Underwear -- A Poem

I wrote this poem in grade school. The teacher called my parents in and I had to explain myself. Its just a joke, OK? IT'S JUST A JOKE. Sadly, I no longer have my original copy, so this is the "all-that-I-remember" version.

Can I wear your underwear
Can I dance and sing
Will you laugh and play me records
Will you play me Bing?

I promise not to stretch them
Or soil them with dirt
So can I wear your underwear
Can i wear your skirt?

Though your bra fits rather loosely
Your shoes fit nice and tight
I'll shave my legs real closely
And rouge my cheeks just right

The sweater feels so snug and warm
The stockings made of silk
A ribbon fastened in my hair
Washed with honey dew and milk

So light a fire
And dance a jig
And lead me to your room
Cover me in silky drawers
And expensive rare perfume

We'll dance until the cows come home
And that would be devine
For as they say, To err is human
And to, Moo
Bovine!

WendyBeth, tell your daughter that Tref is cuu-uuute!

I'm dying laughing! <--chipmunk smiley

I wrote this poem for my friend Laura in third grade:

My heart worked
from end to end,
So that you can
be my friend.

Unfortunately for me, I know it by heart, because not only does Laura have the original copy, I wrote it down in my third grade journal, so my mom has the other "original" copy and I have heard it from them several times a year since I was eight. Laura puts it as her sig. in her emails. Ya know, in third grade, I probably could have split atoms, but they'd only remember that asinine poem.

I wish I would have thought of something with drawers or bovine.....I should have been a bit better as my favorite poet at the time was Shel Silverstein.

Jack: Tastes pretty good to me.

That was awesome. I wrote a semi funny poem once about hippopotamusses in response to my teen brother's teen angst poems (nobody got it) but I lost it. It was the only poem I ever loved. Will you marry me?

Hehe.

I called my mom this evening. She remembers having to go to my school because of one of my stories -- but, she said, it was not this one. Anyway, thanks all, for the kind words.

I think I shall never see thus, a poem as pretty as a hippopotamus.

And yes, I will marry you.
