Today In Ronald Reagan History
Aug 11 1984
Not realizing that his weekly radio address is already on the air, President Ronald Reagan quips into his live microphone: "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." One of the best "goofs" ever caught on tape... |

My Favorite RR Story
RR had close ties to Stanford's Hoover Inst., a conservative think tank on a leftish Northern California campus. Maybe Stanford would be a good place for the RR presidential library, he wondered?
"Yeah .... no," was the general consensus but maybe a shelf in one of the existing campus libraries - after all, how much space would RR need for his paperbacks? Or maybe a Nancy Reagan Memorial Parking Lot at the Stanford Shopping Center. |
