Broadway shows -- what to see?

I am going down to the city for my birthday, and have already gotten tickets to Coram Boy. I'm trying to decide if I should see another show, and if so I'm kind of between Grey Gardens and Deuce. Has anyone seen either of these? Any opinions on which one would be better?

Deuce has Angela Lansbury, and apparently the reviews are that she is fantastic, but the story is lacking. I'm wondering if it isn't worth it just to see her in a live performance.

Just looking at the web sites for each play, Deuce would be my pick. But, I'm not a fan of the current musical genre and Grey Gardens seems to fit that bill.

I've hear a lot about both Frost/Nixon and Spring Awakening.

Didnt Deuce just get Landsbury nominated for a Tony?

That alone would do it for me. To be able to see someone in their Tony nominated performance.... all over that.

Though I do like the music for Grey Gardens

Yes, Lansbury was nominated. Grey Gardens was nominated for Best Musical. Here's a page with the nominated shows.

Spring Awakening sounds good, but I don't think I want to go to a musical where "a dozen young people make their way through the thrilling, complicated, confusing and mysterious time of their sexual awakening" with my mom.

I'd go for Grey Gardens, or also Spring Awakening. Here's the plot description for Spring Awakening:

It’s Germany in 1891, and teenagers are discovering their sexuality. Wendla (Lea Michele) is confused when her mother says that babies come from a woman loving with her whole heart, and nothing more. Moritz (John Gallagher Jr.) hasn’t slept in days. His grades are slipping, and all he can think about are his long nightmares--and women. Hanschen is a shining example of the German male, who loves studying with Ernst. Martha is hiding a secret. And Melchior Gabor (Jonathan Groff) is sick of it all.

I would hands down choose anything with Angela Lansbury.

BTW, Lansbury was nominated but her play was panned across the boards. Still, just seeing Lansbury is great. We had the great luck of seeing her perform "A Little Priest" at the Hollywood Bowl Sondheim 75th birthday celebration, and it was one of the most thrilling moments in the audience I've ever had.

Spring Awakening looks great, but once again, I will be with MY MOM.

So I have to be sure she's comfortable sitting through such things as a song called "Totally ****ed."

Oh, and Coram Boy is closing May 27, so I won't be going to that. I'm going to get a refund. Guess it wasn't selling enough tickets...
