April Fool's Recap

Here is a rundown of what we did yesterday. This started with an almost simultaneous brainstorm from GD and I on Wed. We threw ideas around, and decided on which ones to go with. After a blessing from EuroMeinke, we went into action. Both of us were up late on Thur. and early on Fri. to get this in order. As it turns out, it escalated even larger than I ever could have hoped. I thought that most everyone would get it right away and play along. I was surprised by who did and didn’t get suckered in. (including admins and mods that had no idea beforehand).

Now for the recap as best as I can recall:



Things we did:

• Changed the links at the top to go to the wrong page.
  • Don’t remember the exact scheme. GD can edit this for accuracy.
  • FAQ took you to the MP Disneyland forum
  • Calendar, Latest posts, and user CP were mixed up.
• Used word replacement filter:
  
  • Posting “Walt” resulted in “****” (Euromeinke’s Idea)
  • Posting “Disneyland” resulted in Walt’s opening day speech. (My evil doing.I loved this. Not only did it havoc the formatting, but it resulted in replacing within itself )
• Disabling Signatures and Avatars. (It’s amazing how touchy people get over these things, and on such a small board. As if we don’t have everyone’s signature and avatar memorized, being such a small and exclusive board)
• Banning Kevy Baby then letting him in on the joke and allowing him to sock puppet. (this actually rolled into the “hacking” which we never planned, but the rest of you propagated)
• Changing some of the forum names or descriptions. (they are still there. I will change them back later today or tomorrow)
  
  • “Playboy” became “Playpen”
  • Disneyland Forum: “The first stop for swank hedonism” became “The last stop for swank hedonism”
  • Out on the Town Forum: “Theme parks, night clubs, and other swanky places to play, if you were not always posting on the boards”

Things we didn’t do:

• Some word replacement filters entries(but would have screwed up the code on such short notice) :
  • “the” to “teh”
  • “I” to “my ego”
  • “and” to “dan”
  • “on” to “no”
  • “in” to “ni”
• Change Not Afraid to Not Aware (But then she couldn’t sign in without letting her in on joke)
• Ban Various Members
• Make it so everyone but the admins could only post in the Parking Lot (while creating thread titles that would make people want to read them, but couldn’t.)
• Change the color scheme. (There were a few ideas, some GD and I agreed on, some just mine.):
  
  • The “Plan C” version that has been seen by many.
  • Change colors to really bright, 8-bit looking board. (Think hard to read 80’s neon graphics, without the black outlines to contrast.) mine
  • Change the color scheme to look like MousePlanet and change the logo to a “LoungePlanet” logo. (We asked permission from Alex at MP, and he wasn’t comfortable with it. It was such short notice anyway, but would have been really cool.)
  • Make a hybrid-looking board and logo. (Using MP, Fab, and MC)
• Make Alex a moderator or Admin for a day
• Redirect www.loungeoftomorrow.com to another site. (Like FAB, MC, or MP; extra evil would have been to some other sites, ones I wont name here). (you would still have been able to get in by going directly to boards index or through www.xenarchy.com )

This is most of it. GD can add to this (You can use the edit function on my post, don’t mind J)





As I stated before, it was all in fun. We weren’t picking on anyone in particular; we were picking on all of you. April Fool’s.





Bottom line, its April Fool's Day, and it's just a website. Lighten up and roll with the swank.
