Chag Sameach!
(it means Happy Holiday)
Happy Passover to those that celebrate it! I hope those of you that attended Seders had fun. We had a blast as usual at our family's get-togethers. Two nights in a row of wine and visiting and brisket. Very cool. ![]() Now I am continually reminding myself to not eat bread. I expect to be rather grumpy by the end of this week...but then I'll be at Coachella, so I couldn't possibly care about my dietary problems! ![]() Happy Passover, everyone.

I kind of miss the ol' undergrad days when Sam and I would wander the aisles of the Haggen grocery store late at night trying to find SOMETHING to satisfy her carb cravings. The "bake in pan" kosher-for-Passover brownies were NOT a hit. She usually made it to about Thursday before she broke down.
The most fun was probably the time our French class was in Paris over Easter/Passover (which coincided that year.) Sam went off to her French relatives for Seder and I kind of regret not going with her, but none of them spoke English and I still have very little knowledge of the traditions -- and it would have meant missing the group trip to the Loire valley, so I stayed with the group. But one night we were all at dinner and we had the glass of wine out for whomever that is that comes and drinks the glass of wine. And Sam had had more than her share of glasses of wine when a branch tapped on the window and she jumped up, exclaiming that whatshisface was at the window and we should let him in and promptly broken the latch trying to open it in her inebriated state. It doesn't really come out the way I've described it, but that was one of THE most entertaining meals of all time. Alas, Methodists tend to be more teetotaling -- but we do throw a mean potluck. So Happy Passover to you, and thanks for reminding me of some good memories.

HI!

Elijah.
We went to a wonderful, incredible, amazing Passover seder on Saturday eve. I am not Jewish and I'm not even close to being an honorary Jew like Chris is, but, when the friend, who was supposed to sit next to me, didn't show I got to joke that it was Elijah's seat. That's the one thing I remember from past Passovers. |

I grew up with a family who would have fun with the seder and sometimes "misinterpret" the text on the page. From past times, I recall some of the extra plagues being taxes, tryptophan, and Martha Stewart. I think I made some Elijah Wood jokes somewhere in there too. (Hence, starting the tradition of "The Wise-ass son asks...") This year, I spent Passover w/ my Orthodox cousins who do things pretty strictly by the book, but it seemed a little foreign b/c they read mainly in Hebrew. Going back home to Nawlins wasn't an option this year, but at least I got to see my aunt demonstrate her VERY low alcohol tolerance (and break out in a case of the giggles!) ![]()
