50 Years Ago Today...

The Mickey Mouse Club debuted on ABC, and Captain Kangaroo premiered on CBS.

It was all downhill from there for kids programming

Till, of course, Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

Oh wait ... that was adult programming disguised as childrens' programming.

I wouldn't go as a far as saying that children's programming has gone downhill. There are still some great stuff. I grew up with Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, the Muppets, and the Electric Company. Its just stuff like Barney that make you yack!

Speaking of the Mouseketters, I got to see the original cast at the Park on Sunday. What a great bunch of people. It just made me miss the old show and Annette. OOOO the Wonderful World of Disney.

A few of us here took part in the Mouseketeer "volunteer" event early this morning. Needless to say, it was very awesome, and exceeded expectations. We were even treated to a full-course hot breakfast at Festival Arena!

I'll post a full report in the next day or so - I'm really exhausted at the moment. But, there should be some good stuff on Mousepod's hotline.
