Worth the Wait

Waiting at the park
For my baby to get off work
Looking through the window
As she wipes the diner counter
Again

Wag my head lace my shoes
Sitting on the park bench
Tapping my feet to the
Sounds of the street
Singing

Can you see me baby of mine
Here I am longing for the time
When you are by my side
Come on and kick with the clock
Ticked and ticking

The cars zooming by people
Watching me while I’m free
They’re going ‘bout their day
In a round about way
Not me

My work’s done this time’s for fun
Can’t she just bolt out now
She jerks a jerk a soda
While he talks to her about important
Nothing

She looks my way with intention
I stand on the bench waving
I point at the watch I forgot to wear
She laughs and I can hear it through the
Busy

Lying on the bench it’s been an hour
While I shake my leg to the beat
Of a song in both our heads
She lays a pucker on my lips
Cherry

My baby sits on my lap
We grind to the tune we’re both
Hearing while the world whisks on
With her uniform still on
Barely

We roll to the grass and
Land on land with a thud
She calls me the reason why
Her workin’ day was taking too long to
End

She grabs my hand pulls me up
As she always does and we run
Through the park through the grass
Circle a fountain raining last night’s
Rain

Jumpin’ in kicking water into the sky
Dancing to the melody of her
Laughing as the word watches how
Much she loves me we let them
Watch

Now she and I are hugging on us
Hanging on to the little we got
But nothing can take away this
Groove time when we are
One

I saw these two at the Boston Common. Kinda cute, kinda clumsy, kinda romantic. I'm not sure where her uniform was from...

**Oops, it's supposed to be 'as the world watches' not 'as the word watches'. But maybe it's okay to say 'word watches' because I watched them and wrote about them... Ha ha.
