Scaffolding Accident in Boston - 1 Block Away

I work one block away and the route I take to get something to eat put me very near this accident at 12:15pm today. I went to the Dept of Transportation building which is near the accident site to get lunch.
I could have seen someone get crushed if I went to lunch at 1pm today. (Which I never do. I always eat at 12 or 12:15.)
Scary stuff.
3 people died.

Holy cow. They have blocked the whole street off and there's a huge crowd around the site even now at 3:40pm or so. Yikes. I need to leave work right now, I'll post more if I see anything on my way to the subway.

Wow, I feel so damn lucky right now.

They have the street blocked off and a crew is lifting parts of the scaffolding off of the road right now. There are people in the Common watching the whole thing. I couldn't see the spot from where I was, but there seems to be a vantage point from the park where everyone can see a lot. It's too big of an area to block from view. There are a lot of students hanging out here, too looking around.
Fire trucks and cops cars/bikes up the wazoo.
Everyone on the subway was talking about it. Lots of people getting cellphone calls when we went over the Charles River hearing the news for the first time.
A couple of people thought we were being attacked...
The owner of the building is in for a world of hurt.

Only thing of note here is Buck Owen's death and huge funeral. The funeral was Sunday. Major PITA to get from one side of town to the other.

(Apparently there was a live telecast of his funeral on TV in that area. My in-laws watched it in Tehachapi.)

They showed it live on Sunday. They cut it off at 2 hours. They got so many calls about it, it has been shown, in its entirety at least 2 more times since. This morning Clint Black was doing a free concert at the Crystal Palace, to mark its reopening since Buck's death. It was at 8am, first come first served. There were people lining up at 5 in the rain.
