Mousepod #3

Ok, Mousepod has been discussed here and here and anywhere else our inspired new friend mousepod has posted. But I think that this needs lots and lots of exposure, so I'm starting a thread just about the third installment. The site is www.pocketsymphony.com if you want to download these podcasts.

First of all, thanks again for the swanky shout out. GD and I were so thrilled to hear it. Once we get the site dressed to the nines, we'll be ready for a full plug.

You mentioned the loss of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and wanting to start a campaign for his return. The following is all IMHO, btw. As was said, since 2001 we've had to endure Great Moments with Mr. Barber instead, and believe me, I'm happy to see it go. I've been in that theater only a few times since they put that in, and the last time was definitely my last. Making people giggle and scream at the stereo effects instead of care about one of our greatest presidents is just terrible, both from a historical perspective and a Walt perspective. Perhaps I may ask Disney to bring back Lincoln, but Lincoln, not Mr. Brady's ear-blowing assistant.

It'd also be nice if Lincoln spoke to me instead of speaking inside my brain. Those headphones...bleh.

As for the imdb-esque attractions list....I'm totally excited about it. Good luck getting the server space/programming necessary for such a project. I'm sure it'll take some bucks to set that up. Gathering the info won't be hard - us geeks are at your beck and call.

Anyone else an early mousepod fan?

Thanks for starting this thread, CP. I listened to the first MousePod thanks for a thread the GN2DYLD (or whatever your damn initials are) started here. I loved the program and was curious about a piece he played on that show, so I emailed him. So, that's how I "met" Jessee and told him out Lounge of Tomorrow. I'm glad I did because he fits in quite well with our swanky crowd. We've been cooresponding about a few things and he's got our groove.

I'm excited about the "project" (and can't wait to share my geeky knowledge). When you get back from vacation, Jessee, I think there will be some work for you to do.

If you haven't listened, please do so. The shows are great fun and filled with interesting tidbits and music. I highly recommend them. Plus, #3 has a shout out to our very own Lounge of Tomorrow, but done in a subtle way, with a VERY COOL tune attached to it.

Thanks for the support. I'm going to do a show early this week, because I'm off to Hawaii for 9 or 10 days.

Good point about the revamped GMWML, CP. I have a similar feeling about The Enchanted Tiki Room in WDW. However, some of my friends who are much more casual Disney fans seem to enjoy the story and effects of the new version (both attractions - go figure).

I'd love to be able to do some shows about differing opinions on Disney attractions. I sometimes feel I'm tempering my own opinions so as not to alienate some new potential disneyphiles (it's especially hard when talking about cheapquels), so I'm considering having some guests on future shows - kind of a laid-back Disney point/counterpoint. Any takers?

SYRS,
Jesse

Hehe, differing opinions on Disney attractions, us? No way.

As this is what the entire Disney internet community is based on, I think it's a good idea. It's nice of you to hold back on your own opinions in order to talk to a larger base of fans. There are plenty of Disney rumor commentators out there that don't dish without their own blessed opinion coating their report. This is why I usually get annoyed at such sites.

I really dug your mention in your second broadcast of the less expensive cartoon collection DVDs for the casual Disney fan. Very cool. I'm sure the podcast community is listening in, and that most of them aren't the freaks we are.

Oh, forgot to mention this...

You played a song by a Dutch guy that does covers of Disney songs in a ska style. As a ska fan I was very excited by the prospect...until I heard it. He uses midi-style synth sounds to make up his ska band, and the result is, how shall I put this....terrible. I feel bad putting the guy down, and I'm not going to email him or anything, but I just had to say it. I went to his site and downloaded a couple more just to be sure, and yeah, I really couldn't stand it.

There must be real ska bands that do covers of Disney songs. Suburban Legends does a cover of the Gummi Bears theme song which is pretty kick ass. I'm willing to bet they do other Disney songs, as they've played the resort a lot in the past. (BTW, heard that they should be at Tomorrowland Terrace this weekend, don't know if we'll make it out there for that.)
