Not to be crass but you know a bunch of event managers for upcoming PGA tour stops just breathed a sigh of relief (not that he died but that if he was going to he did so relatively quickly meaning Woods will be able to play their event).

I guess that is crass.

As a dad who is always striving to make his kids be all that they can be, I had a lot of respect for Tigers Dad. He managed to motivate his son to be the best in the world and apparently did not totally alienate Tiger while doing it. Yo God! Save a tee time for pappa tiger will ya?

I have heard/read numerous accounts of how Earl Woods trained his son to focus. On the golf course, the man was merciless, trying to startle Tiger during his backswing, stepping on his ball in a sand trap, kicking it behind a tree or into the deep rough, etc, etc, etc. If Tiger complained, his dad would get worse. His goal was to get Tiger to be able to focus through any circumstance and be able to get himself out of difficult situations on the course. I am certain this translated well in the classroom and in his personal life, too.

Considering what my family's been through recently, I feel for him. RIP, Earl.
