Thumbs up Niles Brocho Billy Films Festival 6/23-6/25

For the film history geeks like me, Niles, CA holds a special place. Essanay Film Company (Spoor and Arthur) out of Chicago came west to make some films and instead of heading south to sunny Edendale/Hollywood, etc., they went North to Niles, (near Fremont/San Jose/etc.) Charlie Chaplin shot some of his best loved shorts in an around Niles and G.M."Bronco Billy" Anderson, the first famous cowboy, (and in true Hollywood fashion was not really a cowboy, not even close) was a partner and made many a film there. Anyway, June 23-25 there is the annual Niles Festival and some great people are presenting and speaking with the films. I will be there as this will be my first visit to this festival. That said, I do know a good many of the people who are presenting and count them among my dearest film friends.

You can find some info about the Niles Museum by visiting their site

If you have a remote interest, I'll see you there!
