SNAP The Knife

I believe I mentioned this group a while back, probably in the "Music Wishlist" thread. A duo from Sweden that has rarely performed live and always performs in masks. I've enjoyed the few tracks I've heard. Their music might not be for everyone, it's laid back trancy dance electronica.

I've finally purchased one of their albums, Silent Shout. Lucky for me, I happened to notice that, available on Amazon for nearly the same price as the regular album was a "deluxe edition" that included a CD of live recordings and a DVD.

It arrived today. We are blown away.

The music is pretty good. The main offering on the DVD is a concert video. It's obvious that they'd be pretty awesome live, but, as with the vast majority of concert videos, it clearly loses something in translation to 2 dimensions.

The real gem here is the music videos.

Blown. A. Way.

I forget how much I love a good music video, and this DVD delivers 12. Amazing trippy visuals, not the kind that make you think, "Damn I wish I were on drugs," the kind that make you think, "What the hell did I take and where can I get more?!" All over the spectrum in terms of subject and medium, heavy use of mixed medium. Archaic video effects that make you wonder if they are being ironic, if they really love the late 80's/early 90's, or if technology is just far enough behind in Sweden that an independent record label can only afford the equpiment of a decade ago.

A couple examples:

Handyman
Heartbeats

And those aren't even the best ones...by a long shot.

Needless to say, I'm thrilled with the purchase. If the music grabs you in the slightest, and you liked those 3 videos, you will NOT be disappointed if you follow suit and buy the Deluxe edition.
