The Impossible Return of Dirty Harry

Recently at Cannes, Clint Eastwood was asked if he'd ever return on screen as "Dirty Harry". Clint said no since Harry would be to old to be a cop.

As a huge fan of the series and of Eastwood, I have to agree with that Harry Callahan should stay retired. What's interesting is that people keep asking him for more Harry. For years Eastwood's been asked if Harry would be coming back to the screen and he's answered no in a variety of different ways such as in the 70's Harry worked but the character has run its course, Harry would never have lived past 45, the stories weren't interesting anymore and now Clint is just too old.

What is this fascination with the return of Dirty Harry? Is this something people really want?
