Question The Yosemite Book and Movie Recommendation Recap Thread

During the week of Yosemite Cabin Swank and bookended California Adventures, there were many recommendations of books to read, movies to see .... but I rarely had a notepad or functioning internet device on me at those times. So I thought we'd recap.

I tried to take Keith to Fort Point underneath the Golden Gate Bridge while we were in San Francisco, but the part underneath the Bridge is now off-limits due, I presume, to antiquated post-9/11 security concerns. Bah.

Can't re-enact the scene from Vertigo.

What's that?!? Keith's never seen Vertigo. Or, for that matter, any Alfred Hitchcock movie other than Psycho.

So, I recommend 4 for starters ... stat. Must See Vertigo, The Birds, North By Northwest, and The Man Who Knew Too Much. Do Not Pass Go.

It also came to my attention he's seen only Spirited Away of the Miyazaki ouvre. Fail. To fix, see Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Howl's Moving Castle without delay.

Oh, and catch up on your Pixar. Ratatouille and Wall-E await.

* * * *

In turn, Keith recommended I read the His Dark Materials series, and one or two others. What where they?

And during the fateful ride to the Hike of Doom, the book recommendations were flying fast and furious. Mostly of the vampire or vampire-like genres, but some other stuff, too. Anyone recall any of these? I want to read sexy vampire stuff.
