Verizon loaner global phones - just fyi
Maddie's off to Europe in a few weeks and we have Verizon which means our phones won't work there. Found out Verizon has a service where they'll send you a global phone you just pay shipping (19.99 + tax) and then any charges for usage. I find that quite reasonable. The phone charges are 1.29/minute, 50 cents to send a text and 5 to receive. No data but that's fine.
It's not super easy to find any info on their website so I thought I'd let everyone know just in case they ever needed it.

I did this with Verizon when I went to Europe. I added international calling to my home phone (12 cents/minute) and I would use the loaner cell to text my wife that I was at the hotel, and she would use the landline to call me there. It was very economical that way.
