Is there a positive spin to this?

I've got a birthday coming up soon and in yesterdays mail I received a nice gift card from my dad. Attached to the card was a note that I'm having trouble ascertaining what it was trying to say. It reads:

"Remember, you are the youngest son".

While I do have an older brother, I just can't figure why my dad would put that (and only that) message on my card.

Perhaps he was just trying to make you feel better about getting older by pointing out that there's someone older than you?

Thanks, I think you got it right. Through the fog of family politics it's not always easy to see the real meaning of things.

Lol- I was going to point out that the younger sons historically had to strike out on their own, or join the priesthood.

When my Son turned 4 I wrote on his bowling pin(yes, he had a bowling party even though we are not from Vantucky) "4 more years"......It didn't mean anything except that I was exhausted and didn't know what the heck I was doing

It meant you dug the past four years enough to sign up for the next four. It meant you loved him. You may have been tired, but I know exactly what you meant. We're coming up on number ten for our girl, and I may just write on her cake "and ten more!"

Perhaps it's code for something secret, like where to find some hidden treasure... Hmmm, that would be nice, wouldn't it?

I'm guessing it's either 1.) to remind you that you're not the oldest. or 2.) Your dad has no idea what he put in there. It's the kind of weird cryptic messages I would get from my grandfather in his later years, so I don't mean to be harsh... But I figure there would be other things that would make something like that apparent.

Chances are, it's #1.
