Thankful and Happy Thanksgiving

As the Thanksgiving holiday rolls around, I find myself thankful for many things. Lofty or mundane, it makes no difference, I'm happy to be around and enjoy the life I do.

This year, of the many little things in life I am thankful for is LoT. One of the nicest, least pretentious spots to lurk and de-lurk and all of this with witty conversations, intelligent conversation, silly conversation and remarkable in the lack of bullsh!t! A nicer bunch of people you could not gather for a virtual cocktail party. I'm thankful to have been invited to schmooze amongst you!

I'd like to wish all who come to the LoT a very happy thanksgiving day with friends/family and good food. Always non-traditional, I'm doing a pork roast stuffed with fruit that has been steeping in apricot brandy for the last 3 weeks. Roasted garlic and herbed fingerling spuds, roasted carrots with orange rind and spinach salad. Only traditional pie will be had for afterwards with coffee.

I'd like to second this. The LoT has a very special place in my heart and I'm quite thankful to all of you that give us this wonderful place to play. It's helped me through some tough times and brought immeasurable joy due to all of the special people that post here. You will not find a finer message board in my opinion.

And regardless of the difficult circumstances I've had to face in this past year, I have much to be thankful for as well. I have the most wonderful boyfriend I ever could have hoped for (and we celebrated our 2nd anniversary yesterday. ). I have a new home that I love. I'm playing a lot of music these days which keeps me sane, and I have wonderful friends that I cherish.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. May you all have a most wonderful holiday.

I'm thankful for my wonderful friends in all aspects of my life. Finding all of you on the internet is something I've been thankful for many times over. Love you guys!

I'm thankful for my jobs, I adore them. Even on the worst days they're 10 times better than the work I had before. I have some great bosses and coworkers and it's nice to know I'm making a real difference in people's lives.

I'm thankful for my financial independence. Geez, I'm a bloody fat cat compared to most of this world. I know I worked pretty hard but there's no way I deserve all of these riches. I'm truly blessed.

Most of all I'm thankful for my amazing husband, my best friend in the whole world. As the years pass I become more and more aware of just how lucky I am.

I'm very thankfull for the LoT and the friends I have here.

Many of you have helped me emotionally through some tough spots this past year, on and off line. At the point MP and then LoT moved into my life, I needed something.... and now I know what.
Thank you all of you.

I am thankfull for a job that makes me crazy... but I have a job. And people at said job who brings smiles into my day, and humor everywhere they go.

I am thankfull for that which I take for granted. Sight to watch my son change from baby to boy, and now, young man.

Hearing, to listen to the music that drives my life, and life.. to enjoy it all.

And all of the above to enjoy the things that drive my heart an imagination, and Walt's vision to bring me the joy I have in Disneyland.
Corny... but mine.

I find that the first place I go when I log onto the internet is the LoT. I am very thankful for this place. It allows me an outlet that I don't get elsewhere. It is a place that all are accepted. It is a place that allows intelligent political debate without attacks of an individual (except when GC picks on me, of course ). And it makes me laugh. Here's to the LoT.

One thing that I have found to be funny is that this calendar year has been full of medical crap and procedures and tests and surgery, and even while still having difficulties that will require more surgery, it seems, I have found that I have never been so thankful for my physical well being. The surgeon who performed my surgery has a rare cancer. Someone I have coached against for the last 10+ years keeled over and died of a massive heart attack while sitting at his desk a couple weeks ago. There are, sadly, more tragedies near to me I could list.

I have found that perspective has made me more thankful than ever. No matter what my circumstances are, it could always be worse, and billions of people around the world would love to have my life. I have all the things I could ever need and a support structure that will always ensure that should I not be able to meet those needs, they would still, in fact, be met.

That feeling of knowing how many people care about me and my family - and would assist us medically, financially, in prayer, however we would ask - is truly an overwhelming and humbling feeling. It would be impossible to express enough gratitude to those in my life that I know beyond a shadow of doubt would do anything for me and my family.

Compared to most, I'm quite new here. None the less I must express my heartfelt thanks for making me feel welcome and allowing me to be a part of your obviously very tight knit community of thoughtful, intelligent, oft opinionated yet always open minded group of folk Ive rarely encountered anywhere, virtual or otherwise.

I think I do indeed have many things to be thankful for. I admittedly dont always see them or appreciate them for what blessings they truly are and with luck will continue to be.

While I surely could have done without a great many parts of my recent past and will undoubtedly feel the same about some of my future (such is life), I must humbly bow down and give thanks for those and to those who despite having no real reason to do so, have helped me through some of the roughest patches of life I've had in many a year without asking for anything at all in return.

Their generosity and kindness seemingly know no bounds and unbelieveably have no price. Words alone cannot and could not ever reflect the gratitude and eternal gratefulness I hold for those who have seen me through the personal $H!t-storm of the last couple of years asking only my friendship in return.

To all the members of LoT Ive had the great fortune of interacting with in some way, even just as far as reading your words...I give thanks for the opportunity to be a small part of you all in some way.

Peace and prosperity to you all

- Capt Jack

Wow - this is way to soon for me to want to recap and reflect on the year, but I do have a few thanks to shout out.

First off, I agree with Leo - I am thankful for my health even as I get older and healing doesn't happen so quickly anymore. A number of people close to me experienced untimely deaths in their families which only underscores how precious being healthy really is.

Secondly, I've plenty of Thanks for LoT - In many ways this has been one big positive affirmation for me allowing me to become the person I always wanted to be. I'm thankful to those who followed us here, those who found us and decided to stay, those who I've reconnected with, and especially those who inspire me and lend their talent to this place - you are truely the coolest hipsters I know.

Oh there's plenty more - but I have lots of time till year end to reflect on the previous year.

Thank you Snowflake for this thread.

I can think of very little to add that hasn't been said already! I, too, am thankful for our little Swanky refuge and I feel blessed to know so many truly gifted and giving people.

I am thankful for my home, more so than usual given how many people were made homeless this year. I am especially thankful for my wonderful, quirky, massively disfunctional family, a never ending source of frustration, amusement and love.

I too, am thankful for this place and all the wonderful people that make it great.

Also (as WendyBeth mentioned) thankful for a (mostly) undamaged home and my wonderfully quirky family - but since we're all close to the same type of quirky, we aren't so dysfunctional

I'm also thankful for the chance to meet some of you in Anaheim last month, AND for the chance to go to Orlando (leaving tomorrow morning!) for a week with 2 sisters and a brother-in-law! If any of you are at the Mini Mouse Adventure or Mega Mouse Meet, I hope to meet you there!

I'm also thankful for my health, and for my job (though sometime just because it ALLOWS me to have the home and Mickey trips!)

I tend to forget just how good I have it. I don't just have a roof over my head, I have a warm home with most of the luxuries of modern life. I have a job that pays more than enough to live on. I have a companion who warms my bed at night and accepts and supports my push to fly ever higher. I have an extended family that's in my corner and accepts unquestioningly that I'll acheive my goals. I have the two best cats in the entire world who accept me into their clan. My belly is full of tasty food and there's more in the fridge. I have a wardrobe full of clothes. I can afford the rising gas prices. I can afford to visit Disney parks twice a year. I'm finally on a solid educational track headed toward a career I might actually enjoy.

And, of course, there's a little place online where I can go to unwind where the atmosphere is swanky and the people pleasantly off-kilter.
