OMFG! I can't believe it's BACK!!!

OK, I'm not a big Baskin&Robbins fan generally but I must admit that we do have a history going back many-many years....

And from that deep dark and chocolaty past returns perhaps the greatest flavor ever produced by B&R... Get ready because.....

"Here comes the Fudge"

is back! (Yeah, it's THAT big of a deal, I don't do double eek lightly)

For any of you too young or otherwise deprived of the experienced back in '68 or '73 "Here comes the fudge" is:

Rich caramel fudge ice cream loaded with chewy fudge Brownies and swirled with a dark fudge ribbon

Does life get any better than that?? (<- Yes that's a rhetorical question..)

The real question is: are the thousands of carbs hidden within it's dark, swirling chocolatey depths worth it?

Nah, the real real question is: When I die, will I wish I had eaten this?

Yes, but does anyone really remember the namesake of the name?

Or, am I just old?

That wouldn't be off an old Cheech and Chong album, would it? Or Flip Wilson? Oh, God- I'm old, too!

Is it better to regret that you did not eat something that you wished you had, because you are sure it would taste soooo good....

or, is it better to regret that you ate something that you know you shouldn't have, but the enjoyment you got from it was amazing....

???

It was the summer of 1969 and my sister, Mom and I were spending a week at an apartment in Belmont Shore. I remember walking past Chuck's coffee shop and seeing newspaper headlines about some gruesome murders up in Hollywood but no one had heard of the Manson family just yet. My best friend came to stay for a few days, she had a crush on the Apollo 11 astronauts.

Everyday we walked from Ocean Blvd. to the Baskins-Robbins on Second Street for a Here Comes the Fudge ice cream cone.

My favorite B&R flavor used to be Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet - a very strange, dark chocolate-orange slush on a cone. My friends thought I was crazy, but I adored it. I also liked the odd Daquiri Ice flavor, and would somtimes combine the two. Now that I think about it, ewww!

Here Comes The Fudge was awesome, though.
