Banksy Strikes at Disneyland

I have always enjoyed this artist’s work but i feel Disneyland is an inappropriate place to do it. Disneyland is one of the few places people can forget there worries and fears and im sorry to see he doesn’t respect that. The original story is below and you can see Bansky's artwork on his site.

It was inflatable, and can be rolled up and stuffed in a backpack. But infatable dolls should get a raised eyebrow at least. And when someone is blowing it up and tossing it over the fence and standing it up, that should also have been seen by someone.

Inside job perhaps?

Or Zappppop?

Yeah, other than the visibility, I don't really see the point of doing it inside Disneyland (perhaps it's the ABC connection with regard to the 9/11 documentary?).

Over on MP there is speculation of photoshopping and I have to agree the angle of shadow off the prisoner seems different than the angle from the fence but that's not compelling evidence of fakery.

And might it be in response to Disney/ABCs "pro-conservative" 9/11 movie? I can't tell whether this was supposed to be yesterday (it was posted today as "breaking news" or last weekend (it says holiday weekend).

Actually it looks like there is NO shadow of the prisoner. The fence shadow looks like a rectangle on the left because of the inward path of the fence and the angle of the sun casting a shadow on two or more posts (there is a samll one on the right from one post). If you look at the light hitting it's head, there should be a clear shadow above the fence line of it's head. And the stalk of grass in front of his leg looks different, more bright white than the others as if cropping the picture of the prisoner over top of the ride shot caused someone to paint the missing part of the grass back in and touch up the rest of the grass to match it. Otherwise it looks convincing.

Also, if someone planned it, went to DL to do this, and document it with pictures for the website, you'd think they would have gotten the correct name of the ride. Someone who stayed home and did it is more likely to get the name wrong IMHO.

I pulled the photos into Photoshop.

The shadows all line properly. If you follow the lines, they make sense. Also, the gravel in the shadows is consistent with how it would look if the gravel was truly in a shadow (this is one area that many people often miss - leaving shadows of small items in areas that are now themselves in shadows).

The one stalk from the pompous grass was a concern at first (it is in two different places in photos one and three and not covering the prisoner at all in photo two). However, the stalk is visible in photo two. Further review of the photos indicates a realistic swaying of that stalk.

Also, in shot two, it stongly looks like two of the individuals are looking at the "prisoner."

And as far as the erroneous naming of the atttraction, I suspect that the person who posted is not the picture taker (at least the way the post is written it would not appear that person was there).

Lastly, I do not see any digital artifacts from altered images. A good artist can easily get rid of those, but that takes a fair amount of skill that is not usually seen in an this type of hoax.

My vote is that the pictures are genuine (though I don't really care that much).

To me, human nature would dictate that that particular screen is not watched as closely as some of the other screens.

Asked a few cast members about it today who wouldn't be in the direct line of knowledge but would tend to have heard about it and none of them had.

Just suggestive, not particularly evidentiary either way.

Um, are we forgetting the obvious? The color is an orangy-red - and the figure was placed directly opposite the tracks from the red longjohns of infamous death fame. It's a protest of the continued operation of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (aka Rocky Mountain Railroad Ride) and has nothing to do with Guantanamo, Nine Eleven or ABC.

There's no way that would have been there an hour and a half - the CMs would have seen it on surveillance as it happened.
