Glimpse of angled face
One look,
subdued,
ricochets off the wall and tears
straight
through
my corneal tapestry
rendering me caw caw! crow blind
the world even darker than it was before
I gasp
and clutch my searing socket
One good eye
makes a mistake

Right into the eyes of Mara

Veiny tendrils
Shoot out!
Enveloping me
Wrapping me up Argiope aurantia style.
Plunging down my throat
twisting through my twiny gut
I'm impaled.
Your pupil widens and I'm
dragged dragged dragged
closer to you
Tipped and toppled I'm
sucked sucked sucked
right past your iris
I clutch and claw
grabbing vinelike lashes

but it's futile.

Trapped inside your cerebral cortex
I ponder gnawing through your spinal cord and making
my grande sortie
but instead I caress your gray matter
weaving in and out of neural curves
bouncing on your cerebellum
lingering longingly next to your medulla
Crawling into a warm soft cave
I nap in your inner ear canal

Fused together
I awaken and sit and think
This place isn't fit for living
the middle ear detects my passage
as a slight stir
greeted by dim fluorescent light
I slip and slide out easy peasy
worn and waxy
