Disney Memorabilia if you have the $$

I received in the mail last night the latest catalogue from Heritage Auctions in Texas. They always have some interesting stuff and always at least one Valentino item (for me this time, it's a keybook set of 49 stills from Uncharted Seas I'd dearly love to have access to, stuff on that movie is scarce as hens teeth).

But for the Disney collectors, always something in there too, like this, if you have an extra 18k (wtf?!?!), at least that is the estimate. Opening bid, a mere 9 grand.

To see the search for all the other Disney stuff, here's a search page I saved to make it convenient. The Snow White poster is a beautiful, and a style I don't recall seeing before. I love the Silly Symphony poster, as well. Cool Stuff!

Interesting - but I wonder if the Government could seize it as US property, that would suck

Most of the Signed Disney stuff out there is questionable. I'm not sure I would trust it outright when spending that much. I trust Phil Sears, he authenticates for Sotheby's or Christies. I've meet him at Disneyana conventions. Here's his link

Well, I'm going to assume the passport signature is authentic. Thanks for the link, some interesting stuff there to look at. I think a repro Peoplemover Patch on my windbreaker would look very cool. Well, maybe not, but I would think so!

As an aside, in my experience with Christies and Sotheby's in the area of autographs (and this goes for many legit dealers too) there have been several instances when they (Christies of Sothebys) authenticated and sold fake autographs. I've seen at least a couple of bogus Valentino autographs sell for thousands and they were forgeries. One instance I contacted Christies, provided good examples, I mean, the autographs were not even close, I could have forged better, and the "authority" at Christies totally blew me off and the item stayed in the catalogue. Pity, it was a great photo I'd love to have had, for the photo, but the price for outpaced the real value given the Christies provenance and seal of approval on the signature. Pity the fool and let the buyer beware. Anyway, to make a long story short, I agree, always go with an expert you trust! If they give you a fair deal, even better!

Well, the beauty of Heritage is this, click on the item, then load the image (remove the pan and zoom feature) and right click it, the images are HUGE. At least you will have a reference!

Besides, the auction has not started yet, you still have time to place a bid!

I'm always amazed at how people get a hold of these items. I wish I knew how something so personal is allowed to get out there.Anyone know?
