The Muppet Show: Season 2 = Aug. 7th!

2 years after the release of the first season set, The Muppet Show: Season 2 will be released on DVD August 7th.

The second season was supposed to be released Feb. 21, 06 but was delayed. From what I've been told, Disney took note of the fans that were not pleased that the season one sets were edited and decided to take the time to work out the legal rights to all the music. This has caused over a 1 year delay but it looks like season two will be complete.

The box art was released recently and on the side it reads
"The Complete Second Season":

The Muppet Valentine Show - This is THE original pilot episode that was promised on the season 1 sets but was not included. Mia Farrow plays herself.
The Muppets On The Muppets - The Muppets give themselves personal interviews.
Weezer & The Muppets - "more than just a music video!" (don't what that means)

Yay! Season two is finally on the way!

I wonder what that means in terms of Season one?

Will they now do that extra leg work and reissue it in the complete version?
Or are we just sol?

And why does it have piggy's FACE on it? The other box doesnt have Kermits face on it!

The season one set was a close up of Kermit's body. After seeing the close up of Piggy's face, I suspect that the additional 4 season sets are supposed to feature close up shots of parts of a main Muppet character as the cover art.

Fozzie and Gonzo will appear on the season 3 & 4 sets and possibly Animal will be on the final 5th season coverbox.

As for season one, it's possible that after all 5 seasons are released Disney may decide to release a box set of the entire series. If so they may restore the 6 missing segments from the first season and possibly the missing punchline of the Muppet Show Promo Reel. So far, no plans have been announced, yet.
