RIP Charles Nelson Reilly
Tony award winner, 70s game show staple, and brilliant director Charles Nelson Reilly passed away last Friday. He was 76.
The Advocate E! Wikipedia The Life of Reilly (film) his official MySpace page I had the good fortune of getting to not only see his live stage show Save It For the Stage: The Life of Reilly, but along with half a dozen other people (including Lorna Luft) got to talk with him after the show in his dressing room. He was warm, generous, and a genuine pleasure to see both on stage and off. I an truly saddened to hear of his passing. |

Ah, the one celebrity who actually yelled at me (and Boss Radio) - still a fun day in Hollywood thanks to him...
RIP

I thought for sure he was much older than that...
But he really was an incredible wit, and the world is less funny without him. The Play's The Thing - Rest In Peace. |

This has been happening to me a lot lately but this time I truly, thoroughly thought he was already dead. For some reason I have a pretty clear memory of him dying shortly after his episode of The X-Files.
Guess not. At my last office job we used to play pool during lunch and watch Game Show Network, for about a year this generally meant an episode of Match Game, and he was always fun to watch. |

He yelled at us for ditching the play he directed. We went in search of fun on Hollywood Blvd, but instead of buying drugs or cheap hookers, we bought books at the Pickwick and toys at the Hollywood Toy and Magic shop.
The play was The Belle of Amherst, btw. A one woman show about the rather uneventful life of Emily Dickinson. It was truly terrifying to be berated by Sid and Marty Krofft's evil magician of Lidsville, Hoodoo. And yes, he really talked that that. |
