Resume help
So in light of the madness going on in the mortgage market right now, and its effect on the real estate market, my company seems to be tightening its belt again. Today they dropped one of the two women in accounting. And since this market is hardly the time to find oneself selling property full time, I thought it might be wise to cover my butt and put some feelers out.
I'm thinking of going for this coaching job, and I need to figure out how to best position my resume for it. Obviously adding in my current position is going to be the critical factor, because it best relates to the one I'd be going for. Anyway, maybe you guys can help me clean it up a bit? ****** Experience: RE/MAX REAL ESTATE SERVICES – Career Development Consultant (06/05 - present); Realtor (7/06 - present) Making outbound recruiting calls to successful agents, arranging recruiting interviews between agents and Director of Career Development. Advice? Rewrites? A way to better tailor my description to the desired position?

How many pages is your resume above when formatted in word? We've recently hired several people and my boss doesn't even look at resumes that are longer than two pages.
Based on that, perhaps you could pare it down a bit? It looks pretty lengthy when trying to picture it formatted. |

It is a bit longish... I know 1 pagers are no longer the rule, but you're right, it could be pared down. I could probably redescribe some of the airline jobs to make them more relevant to the desired job... for example, wipe out some of the airline-specific language on the crew scheduler thing and focus on the fact that I alone was responsible for keeping 17 aircraft fully and legally staffed during my shift

Pare down some of the wordage, and just use your cover letter to explain/expand upon the skills you have that you feel make you an ideal candidate for this job. Cover letters are often underestimated- some people feel they are unnecessary, but many employers look to these when they are undecided or uninspired by applicants. I think you'd be great at this job, btw.

First of all, I agree with the others. Too long, too much info. Do you really think you need to explain that Guest Service is interaction with guests?
If you do some research on the subject, you can find interesting ideas like: Quote:
Good luck to you!

Okay, so good news.... what I posted above was the "Monster" version of my resume, which was vastly out of date (and to which I somewhat slapdashedly (?..!) added the current info to).
I just found the version of my resume used when I landed my current job, which thankfully is a single page Quote:

So, obviously, I have to update some end dates and add in the RE/MAX stuff...
edit: sweet... I just went searching to confirm the number of aircraft I watched over at National, and it was *19*, actually ![]()

I'm no expert, and I've been working on my own resume in light of this... but from what I've been told, unless you're fresh out of college, the ideal resume is results-driven, not role and task driven, or at least keep tasks down to a minimum and only keep it if it directly relates to the position you're going for. Unfortunately, I'm not in contact with any of my stuff (in UT right now), but if I come across it again, I can post it.
