iTunes Help
Once upon a time I put together a playlist. I burned the playlist. The playlist burned in the order I chose the songs to play in.
The last two times I've burned a playlist I've created, the songs are reorganized by Artist name. Thus, screwing up my carefully crafted playlist. Does anyone know if there is a way to preserve the order of ones selected songs, or am I but a leaf in iTunes wind? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

Hmm. The only solution I can think of is not a good one. Go into the "Get info" for each track, and in the "sorting" tab, add sequential numbers to one of the unused fields. Then you can sort by that field. The problem of course is that only works if each track in the playlist will not be used in a different playlist some time in the future.

Did you right-click (control-click) on the name of the playlist and select "copy to play order" first?

Another iTunes question
Okay, I cannot seem to get iTunes to recognize my old library of music. Soooo, I started importing some CDs and the import was i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-y s--l--o--w on a couple of discs.
Anyone have this problem? I am using the latest version of iTunes (8.something) and yeah, I'm a PC and not a MAC. ![]()

What do you mean it wouldn't recognize your old library? Did it just not like the xml library file, or did it have a problem if you just pointed it at the old music?

I pointed iTunes to the old library on the drive and it's not recognizing it as an iTunes library.

My beef with iTunes playlists is that the songs overlap by a few seconds at the end of one/start of the next when I play them. There's a setting to prevent this, or select it. I change it. Works for two or three songs, then changes back of its own volition to overlap.
I don't bother playing any play lists I create with iTunes ... but must still create them so I can download them to devices that don't exhibit such misbehavior. |

IMO, each version of iTunes has become clunkier and more difficult to use. They don't want you to import your music. They want you to rebuy it through them.
My beef with them has always been a simple one: they can remember your purchase history for all sorts of things like unhelpful "recommendations", they are able to "helpfully" remember your purchase preferences (VISA, MC), they can store your library...but if your computer crashes or you buy a new one, they suddenly are unable to provide you with backup? pfft. Furthermore, you can put your iPod on what, 5 computers? But if something happens to one of your 5 computers, you have no way to unauthorize that computer which means you cannot sync your iPod with a new computer.
