So, mean people suck but so do mean dogs. I have three unruly dogs I walk 3x a week. I have to walk them all separately becaue there is not way anyone can handle them together. Today, I was leaving to walk the first of them when the other two broke out of the garage as I had the gate open. (I confine 2 there while I walk the other.) The two that were off leash got out, ran down the street and one killed a cat. I'm completely traumatized.

Despite all the jokes I make about doing bad things to kitties, nothing tears my heart up like this sort of thing - What cruel beasts!

The dogs I can forgive - it is their nature. It is sad, but forgivable.

What the OP described - unforgivable by me.

(And I do not mean to take anything away from the pain that Lisa is experiencing. I am just still pissed at CL's experience.)

Lisa - that is horrible.

I can't read this thread anymore --- it's freaking me out - and these things aren't happening to me. I can't imagine how terrible NA and cirquelover must feel right now.

The cat was a stray that the neighbor was feeding and getting close to so he could capture her and have her spayed. She was pregnant.

That sounds awful. Just reading this, it's tempting to repeat cirquelover's observation about the idiots in the cars that next time it will be a kid. I'm not sure I'd want that gig.

I'm sorry sorry, Cirque - Squeakers sounds like a personality. Plus, anything with the name Squeakers has to be pretty awesome. What a horrible, horrible thing to have happened.

What worries me about this sort of thing are the links between animal cruelty and human cruelty. Not to diminish what happened to poor Squeakers, but what this person/these people could do in the future might be even worse - what he/she/they might be doing now could be even worse. I shudder to think. Utah just enacted a law that makes it pretty easy to prosecute acts of animal cruelty, particularly because of the implications such an act poses. I don't know if/what other states have in regards to that.

I agree with Gn2Dlnd said - contact to ASPCA or another animal advocacy organization and see what they have to say. He's right, there may be other incidents of such cruelty.

Again, I'm so sorry for Squeakers.

What as sad thread. What horrifying people, and what unfortunate dogs. I'm just so sorry for both of you, cirque and NA. I think my kitties will get extra lap time tonight.

Our kitties seem to be in mourning... only Jovi has really shown herself tonight.
Each of feline and canine kids is getting extra hugs tonight.
