When the killer commits suicide, I tend to assume their violent act had some point in their mind, and was not merely random violence. So I call shenanigans on the assertion this didn't have to do with the victims being American, or at least Western.

Interesting that there are harsher punishments in China for violence against foreigners. But I still don't think that's enough to impel the suicide.

Knowing all about it, as I do, from the one news article.

It's entirely possible he was just a nut who wanted to commit suicide but wanted to inflict some pain on others first.
