				Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum

We bought our Christmas tree this afternoon at a great place just a few blocks from us. A lot that has been owned and operated by the same family since 1959. It looks small from the street, but goes back, and back, and back... (it's in the old Red Line right-of-way off of Ximeno.)

We found our tree fairly quickly, and this big, strapping employee picked it up like it was a toothpick and carried it up front for us. (All the guys working there are very hunky... swoon....) after we paid, this nice young man took the tree to our car and tied it down for us. He really seemed to know his way around ropes...... <ahem>... Anyway, Beautiful fresh trees and terrific service, all at a reasonable price. What more can one ask?

My favorite material thing about Christmas is the tree. I used to sleep under our tree when I was a kid; my mom knew I wouldn't get into the packages, and I never did. I could just sit and look at one for hours, especially now that ours is so laden with ornaments that nearly all have a special, sentimental meaning to me. The only change is that now we have an artificial one- ToriBear got it in her head at a young age that cutting down live trees was wrong, and so we went to plastic, which everyone knows is so much better for the environment. Still, I was proud that she showed such an environmental awareness so young, and I've adjusted. I usually get a fresh wreath to add the pine scent to the air- she hasn't objected to that, yet.
