I was sitting a few feet away from him and just happened to glance over as a six-inch high diarrhea fountain erupted out of the side of his diaper. He was laughing & smiling the whole time. I was so relieved my mom was home at the time so I didn't have to clean that up!

All the baby books, advice sites, and reviews of diapers mention this type of thing. The word often used to describe it, even in serious context, is "explosion". They don't happen all the time but they do happen. It may not be as hilariously catastrophic as the commercial but it's real, and there isn't a product out there that can stop it from making a mess. Guess I should import some of those Aussie nappies....
