Manoa Valley Theatre here is doing a version of 'Around the World in 80 Days' and the set, costumes and advertising are all steampunk. It's wonderful.

I'm starting in on the 3rd book. They are very enjoyable. A comedy of manners with dark undercurrents.

It also reminds one that a well equipped parasol can be most efficacious when one finds oneself in bothersome circumstances concerning danger to ones dignity.

And yes, SM, there are... eh-em... gentlemen of peculiar sensibilities; as well as an eccentric inventorix with a scandalous predilection for men's clothing. (and if that's not bad enough, she's French!)

This is (to me) about as sexy as it gets. Mostly safe for work (nothing is showing), but hidden just in case.

Just doesn't do it for me. I know it makes me less male but I can't help looking at that and saying "Ah, she squished her liver down into her leg somewhere in an attempt to mutilate herself to my liking..."

Then once I get past that I wonder why her ray gun apparently needs one extra bullet.

The funny thing is, I had not paid much attention to the over-cinching of the corset. I was so enamored with her face and the overall look.
