Tonight was my 1st attempt at making kebab koobideh.

Not perfect, I have some room for improvement, and did a little jerry-rigging, but it was pretty good. And best of all, the hubby liked it well enough to be willing to eat it again! (my hubby being a picky eater this is huge)

So next time: don't forget to salt the meat, and probably should get some sumac to put on it at the end. And I freaking forgot to do the tomato... which is one of my favorite things! Oh, and need to get the wide flat skewers (instead of skinny wood ones the meat won't stick to) and cook over the bbq instead of my jerry-rigged rack-under-the-broiler. And need to get some basmati rice because jasmine rice is just too different. Oh yeah, and real flatbread instead of flour tortillas. So, I improvised on a few things, it was a very "international" dinner, haha.

BUT... not too shabby for a 1st try!

I attempted Buttermilk Fried Chicken (actually just boneless chicken breast) and it turned out really good. Now what to do with the left over disgusting oil.

BBQ Kobe Beef with Cardamom, Tomato and Ginger Broth

I've been watching Top Chef for a couple of seasons. This is my first try at one of their dishes. I might be in over my head here. I'll let you know how it turns out.....

A few weeks back, CP made Dale's grilled cheese and tomato soup from the Target episode (as demonstrated by Rick Moonin on the website). Absolutely deeeelicious.

That one sounds good (from a couple of good chefs), and doesn't look too complicated to make.

Not bad, not bad at all. Pretty good in fact.

I sure I made a few rookie mistakes but the end result was clearly better than our average dinners. However I think next time I'll follow CP's lead and pick one that has a demonstration video.
