OK - give me day or so and I'll type up my full observations.

Having said that, here's the first of the spoilers... This one in spoiler tags, but the rest of the posts will have spoilers right there to read. Be warned. Even if you're expecting them.

In the opening and closing show scenes, the black scrims they use to project the music box's magical sparkles all around you in 3D vanish really quickly into the ceiling just before the light comes up, and it took us about 5 rides to figure out that the scrims are sometimes there, sometimes not. (you have to peer really hard into the ceiling to see where they go...)

When the magical sparkles are projected on and through the scrims, the trail of sparkles flies around the room just like a real-life Tinkerbell would. Awesome.

That is cool. I've been fascinated by scrims ever since the first time I saw the Carousel of Progress in the 60's. The little side scenes that were invisible until they were backlit, with those scenes on turntables so two scenes could appear behind the scrims in one act! Amazing! Also, the first time I saw a production of 1776 and they dropped a scrim during the finale, recreating the famous John Trumbull painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Yes, full spoilers! I don't know that I will ever get to see it in person, so I want to hear everything!

Scrims, yes, great things. I *know* how they work and they're still really cool. It's like it's more magic when I know what it does.

Until then, your next tit-bit is that the projection screen in the pre-show really IS projection, and not back-projection as I thought, because the image is projected across the face of Albert when he pops up out of the basket at the front of the room.
