October 22 and 31, 2006 - trip reports

For anyone who's interested, I've posted a trip report that includes both October 22 and October 31 and includes information and extensive pictures on new (mostly holiday) merchandise, a photo report of flag retreat, updates from Woody's Halloween Roundup, a link to a dinner review, some further comments on Mickey's Halloween Treat, and other miscellaneous surprises.

Here's the link - http://www.colddeadfish.net/dlr/dlr10223106tr.html - thanks!

Cool pics! I love how they include young children in the flag retreat now. Most kids have no idea what a flag retreat is anymore.....

Nice pics!!! I'll never have time to see all of the merch in the park this year. Thanks for the preview!

As always, good reviews. I've been getting a really good impression of Halloweentime, much better than "Year of a Million Dreams." It seems like Disney should stick with these localized, season-based promotions instead of trying to do weak collaborations with WDW.

Yeah, I'm surprised Halloweentime was such a success with guests. It was pleasant enough, but really rather weaksauce, imo.

Oh well, the massive success will allow for budgeted expansion next year .... and we may have something approaching Parisian levels by 2019!

My impression of MillionDreamsYear is subject to change if I happen to win a big prize. Otherwise, meh is not meh-enough a word.

You know, it's a real testament to the effort that park has put in that it continues to be successful in Paris. I was just hearing a report that over the past several years, Halloween merchandise sales (country-wide, not Disney merchandise) has been dropping by half every year. The media is all but declaring Halloween dead. And yet, Disneyland Paris's Halloween festivites seem to go over smashingly.

Of course, that may be because a huge percentage of their visitors are foreigners from the likes of England and Germany.
