I'm kind of psyched for the Firefly game. I've never played MMOGs before, but something about Whedon's world of Firefly interests me. Any word on this one yet?

I'm hearing good things about LOTR (Lord of the Rings, NA), but someone in my former guild raised a good point. What will it do to emotional attachment to the storyline and mythology when open chat ends up sounding like Barrens chat in WoW?

Personally, I think one of the things that really helped with the success of WoW is that it is pretty much a self contained mythology. So everybody is ok with being an egalitarian player in world events. With attempts at LOTR or Pern or Firefly, it seems to me that not being one of the central characters will deflate the experience.

ugh. I always kill OOC chat as soon as I enter a game. nothing is a bigger buzz kill than a half dozen leets arguing about some feckless nonsense
