LA Times Club 33 Article

Wait to get into exclusive restaurant may be longest ever at Disneyland

The park plans to expand membership in its almost-mythical Club 33, but that might come too late for some.

Quote:
The membership, which stands at about 487, could increase to 500. Not exactly a huge growth spurt, especially considering that the nine-year waiting list is capped at 1,000 people.
Quote:
Of its 487 members, individuals slightly outnumber corporations. Corporate memberships cost $25,000, plus $5,925 in annual fees. Individuals pay a $9,500 initiation fee, then $3,175 annually, Disneyland Resort spokesman Bob Tucker said.
The whole story

Wow.

Let's crunch some numbers for a minute.

The individual membership is $9,500 initiation, amertized over, let's say 10 years, is $950 a year. Add that to the yearly fee of $3,175, that's $4125 a month.

Say you go twice a month, that's $172, and for two people to eat at $100 a plate, that's $372 each time. Yikes!

Or $4,925 a month for two poeple to go twice a month. Must be nice to afford it!

Your math is off unless I'm misunderstanding something.

The yearly fee is $3,175 which would be $264 a month. If you're amortizing the initiation over 10 years that is $79 a month for $343/month plus any dining you do.

Well, I did confuse things a bit.

$79 a month initiation over 10 years

$344 a month yearly fee

$400 a month for two people dining twice a month

$823 a month total costs

I was getting quite weary last night and shouldn't have been doing math!

Thanks Alex!

Wow well good thing many of us are Disney Geeks that know very rich Disney Geeks that can get us into 33 I had no idea it was THAT much, dear lord. I guess if I have to "budget" to eventually renew my AP, then 33 is a wee bit out of my reach

It is sad (in a perverse way) that I've reached a point in my professional life that I looked at the monthly breakdown and said "you know, I could do that if I wanted to."

I have coworkers who probably spend that much on their thrice-daily treks to Starbucks.

I think the kicker is the " if I wanted to"

Not unless your name has been on the list for ten years.......

LOL!

The R is for Robert,

the Star is the first half of my last name.

My middle initial is G.

So drop the Star, add the G and- Presto! ARRRRRG!

Not that this has anything to do with Club 33 (other than Pirates in New Orleans Square).
