Ooooh! That day will also mark Mabon (Autumn Equinox). I so need to look up some stuff to do in honor that night.
![]() Oh, and iSm, I'd love to hear about your "casting sins to the sea" tradition. |

Jewish tradition from the east coastal lands. I guess it has something to do with getting a fresh start, which the guilt-ridden jews did by symbolically casting away their sins.
My more modern take is to cast away pretty much anything in your life or your self that you don't want anymore, or that you'd like to change. Wade out into the ocean with some bread, and meditate on the stuff you'd like to cast away. Tear a piece of bread for each one, and throw it into the ocean as far as you can. Rinse, repeat. It's sort of the companion to Kevy's Sequioa campfire tradition of casting that which you wish to attract into the fires. This one is casting that which you wish to reject into the waters. Oh, but speaking of Kevy and traditions: Please keep him in the dark about it being the Autumn Equinox. We don't need to see that particular Wiccan's dark parts again!! |

Oh, cool! I have quite a bit of stuff to cast off. I'm so bringing some bread.
Is this a sunset thing, or earlier? |

I need to collect a few more sins first.

Yes, get to work on that. Try some hedonism ... that's always good for a sin or two.
As for the timing of cast off .... there's no set schedule. But Yom Kippur ends at sundown, when the water is warmest. So I'm picturing a roughly twilight time thing in the sea. |

Barely, but that's why you don't try this stunt in a bathtub.
If any of you do believe in gods of whatever sort, please pray to them for sunshine Saturday. |
