"Uncontacted" Amazon Tribe spotted

The world is much smaller than it ever was, but there are still apparently some corners left.

A helicopter passing over the Amazon in Brazil caught these images of what seems to be a previously isolated tribe:

It's hard to even believe this is real. I mean, literally aiming bows and arrows at a helicopter?!? Are we sure this isn't a publicity stunt for Indy 5?

I just hope no one dropped a Coke bottle.

These are not a previously unknown people... in reading the article, it turns out this is a stunt to make an example to the world of how things are going in Brazil, and that if things continue, these people will disappear as the Yanomamo before them.

This story has (alas) reminded me of one the most woeful movies I ever saw, Krippendorf's Tribe, in which Richard Dreyfuss is a failing anthropologist who uses his family to create hoax images of a previously unknown tribe. It's even dumber than that unpromising premise would suggest.

Iiinteresting. I was indeed dazzled by the photos and didn't read the article particularly carefully. Does throw a blanket of suspicion on the whole thing.
