Discounts on annual passes?
It's been a few years since I bought my last AP and I'm looking forward to getting one next month. Is there any way to save a few bucks?

Try http://www.amusementpark.com.
they sell theme park tickets @ discounted prices. You could get a DL ticket through them @ a price lower than the face value of the ticket & then upgrade the ticket to an AP on your visit & save a few bucks that way.

The price you paid is usually embedded in the bar code. I don't think you'll save money that way.

As far as I know the only actual discount you can get is if you're a DVC member - and that's only the same $20 off you get if you renew before your old one expires.

Coke had a promotion a few years ago where certain 12 packs of soda had $20 coupons toward a deluxe or premium AP.
I was hoping to find a similar deal today. Back in 2002, I bought a SoCal AP and gradually upgraded to Premium, one step at a time as I needed it, just paying the difference. Is this still possible? I may do that. |

You may be able to save $20 if you buy it at an AAA office. I think they used to do that, not sure if they still do.
You can upgrade by paying the difference. Keep in mind that it's neither a pro-rated amount, nor extended. I bought a Deluxe, no parking this time. The first time I go and have to pay for parking I'll go upgrade. The first time I want to go on a block out date, I'll upgrade. Unless I'm so close to it expiring that it's cheaper to just pay for parking and pay for a block out ticket. |

Still possible - that's what we always do. But, as BTD said, the upgrades are not prorated.
